A Day in the Life of a Product Manager
06:00 pm BST 01:00 pm EDT
Product Management is a role you will see within most companies with any kind of digital presence, and some without. But it’s not always clear what the role entails and what skills or experience are required. The truth is, it can vary hugely between companies and levels of seniority. What they do have in common is the desire to build great products that users love.
A good product role gives you ownership to do just that, so we will have two Product Managers from News UK; one from a product practitioners’ viewpoint, and another from a Head of Product, to try to guide you through our route into product, and to help demystify product management.
Ian Rounce: Ian is a Senior Product Manager for The Times and Sunday Times, focussing on daily engagement of our subscribers. Over the last 7-8 years he has worked either as a Business Analyst or a Product Manager across Media and Publishing, Sport, Gambling and Financial Services. This has taken him on a path through start-ups, agencies and large corporations; each bringing their own challenges
Bobby Dilawari: Starting his digital career as a founder of a start up ecommerce and then off-shore digital agency, Bobby devoted the first decade of his career in entrepreneurial spirit. Taking a step back from the 24/7 of business ownership, Bobby decided to complement his experience with large scale products and has since held Product roles with BBC Magazines, O2 Telefonica and is currently with News UK supporting the transformation of Subscriptions technology across all of its publications.
